The Silver Arrow by Lev Grossman
by Lev Grossman
The Silver Arrow by Lev Grossman A fantastical tale for reading age 8-12 year olds, though my 5 year old also enjoyed having it read to him. My children are all train enthusiasts, so they adored this book -it was far-fetched in a really fun way, perfect for the imaginations of young children.
A full size steam engine with carriages full of sweets and books is gifted as a birthday present to Kate from her mysterious uncle. Alongside her brother, she takes on the challenge of driving her magical train round the globe, picking up endangered animals along the way.
An exciting stories that allows children to imagine themselves being the hero, saving endangered animals. The book is predominantly a fun, exciting fast paced novel, but the reader is returned to the real world knowing more about the impact humans are having on endangered species and the plight of animals like the pangolin.
The animal characters can talk and can argue their case, encouraging empathy and insight from the young readers. A perfect story for train lovers, and kids wanting adventure.
