There's A Rang-Tan in My Bedroom by James Sellick and Frann Preston-Gannon | In collaboration with GreenPeace is a great children's story picture book with a strong environmental message. A story about an orangutan that moves in with a child, causing mischief around her house. 4 - 8 year olds will enjoy this book that takes seriously the issue of deforestation, destruction of natural habitats, and our role as consumers and campaigners. Many of the kids books we sell give tips on positive behaviour change and this one is does too, but is more detailed and accurate than most on our role as campaigners. At the end of the book, it offers tips about spreading the word, and writing campaigning letters to large companies about their responsibilities in producing sustainable products. This would form a great basis for a classroom writing exercise and discussion around our role as consumers and campaigners, should the curriculum allow.
